GASCAR News: Site Potentially Moving

Hi all, while blogspot has served us well it has felt to be leaving for awhile. Top and I have been working on developing a subreddit for GASCAR's new home. We are currently in the development phase and pretending we know how to code. Anyone know CSS? There are a few neat things we have planned and excited to unviel. More news to come shortly.

THQ has risen from the ashes once again to sponsor our great series.  The 31 lap race will begin tonight at 10:05 EST, 9:05 C, 7:05 PST.

Car Dibs Request

Another petition by Viking.

I should be allowed to use the 97 Mazda RX7. I was building cars based off the spreadsheet like everyone else. Saw that the 97 Mazda RX 7 was on there. Invested time and energy into building the car. Happy with it and went to declare my dibs when I was informed that Beck already had it even though he was listed as having the 90 Mazda Rx 7 and on the site right to the right there his dib doesn't have a year marked. Due to the poor maintenance from Mini and Top I beleive I should be able to drive the RX7 too. At least for this race since that was the car I put all my time into. I suppose I could team with Beck if he is up for it. Hell I'll the with anybody. Give me a good car I can get it on the podium. But really,I should get to drive the Rx 7 due to clerical error.

Wells Fargo 27 Race Recap

The MS Surface GASCAR Series for Fall 2013 started last night with 12 drivers being able to tear themselves away from rehashing "Breaking Bad" and sorting out their internet connections. There were some notable absences but I can't be bothered to deal with those people right now. They all got their 8 points for their first missed race though, the end.

Back to the action on the track at the 2.24 mile Nurburgring GP Short circuit. Qualifying shook out with Top Fuel Man capturing the pole position. As usual, DJ was right on his tail. Newcomer BeckX from redditracing was in third.

After the lights went out and the field rumbled down to turn one there was talk of five wide action heading into the hairpin right hander. This writer didn't see that action as he was going wide and trying not to kill Instink's 79 Camaro. There was a few tussles in the opening lap before the field settled down.

Frankly, other than DJ and Top battling for the lead it was a rather boring caution free race. (It's probably a good thing as Teeter passed out on lap 3 having reached into his 12 pack of Natty Light early.) Everyone drove quite hard but it proved difficult to make up ground on other drivers. BeckX and Instink managed to lead a lap each during the position shuffle due to pit stops.

DJ drove his 1995 Mustang at ten tenths for the the whole race and forced Top Fuel to use up the tires on his BMW M1 on his way to the way. Finishing order with credit for laps led is below.

The next race, at Maple Valley Reverse, is TBD depending Ford or Top hosting while MINI is on vacation.

GASCAR Fall 2013 Series Premiere Race Time Announcement

After finally securing funding to pay track safety workers(Well, okay, one guy, whose name is Teeter, with a beat up F150, a box of Band Aids, and an ice pack  leftover ice that will be chilling his 12 pack of Natty Light.) GASCAR has been given access to the short version of the Nurburgring GP circuit. Wells Fargo has taken a break from their busy schedule of repoing houses they don't hold the mortgages on to give GASCAR some funds to buy the previously mentioned 12 pack of Natty.

The race will be held on Sunday, September 1st @ 1005pm ET(note: This is after Breaking Bad.). We will start with a three lap qualifying session to determine starting order.

If you haven't declared your car, or worse yet begun testing, get a move on.

ps GASCAR is working on some prizes to celebrate what is likely the last championship on Forza 4.

Reminder

The official dibs list is kept on the car list spreadsheet until after the first race to minimize the work GASCAR has to do on the page. Please, consult the list before declaring dibs.

ps Viking, unless you are teaming with Ford, you can't have the Solstice either because he claimed that on Saturday, 8/17. BTW, we want you two to team up to watch the most epic team meltdown in GASCAR history.

Official Car Dibs Complaint from Viking

Currently, Bad is listed as the rights owner to the Porsche 911. However, I declare that I called dibs on the Porsche 911 first. Below are the pictures if like to enter into evidence so my rights can be awarded to me.

Exhibit A: Posted on the site but granted it was in the comments of the wrong section. Please note the time stamp.

Exhibit B: The rules clearly state to inform Mini, Ford, or Top to call dibs. Please see the below picture which clearly shows that I called dibs on the Porsche via text message with Top Fuel. No where do the rules limit which forms of electronic communication can be used.

I believe i have proven beyond a reasonable doubt that i selected the Porsche first and Top was negligent in his duties as a Gascar administrator. Ladies and Gentleman of the juror the Porsche rightfully belongs to me. Thank you.

Points System Update etc.

The points system has been revised to benefit all drivers due to the increased interest in GASCAR for this next season. This new system will put a greater emphasis on finishing on or near the podium but will also give the opportunity for scoring an extra point or two in the back 2/3 of the field. The change in points paid beyond 10th could spice up the action in the back as well. You never know when you will need that one extra point! The lap lead bonus will remain intact. Please, see the rules tab for information about the points. The points system also appears as a tab in the schedule/scoring spreadsheet.

With regards to car selection, several drivers and teams have already claimed cars.  The Dibs section in the sidebar will not be updated until the season starts(at which time car changes will be in effect). In the meantime, visit the car list spreadsheet to see which cars have been claimed and by whom. If you are a privateer and see a car you desire has been claimed by another privateer, that would be a good time to see if they would like to form a team. There is a constructors' championship.

Let's target the week of September 1 for the first race. A formal announcement as to date and time will follow.

I count 15 committed drivers thus far. The poll results indicate a preference for Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday evening(9-11pm ET starts) racing. We will be a bit flexible on this as to allow maximum participation. The date of the first race has not been set.

Rule announcement:
Concerning car selection - The Renault Clio V6 will be allowed as it should have been on the list to begin with. This is what happens when I am doing this stuff by myself. (edit: I just looked at the list and the car was listed the whole time.) However, any car that has to ADD weight to make it into the specifications will NOT be allowed.
