Nurburgring Sensata GP

GASCAR returned to Nurburgring tonight for the first of what will be back to back races in Germany. The night began simply enough with Instink taking the pole, followed by DJ, and Viking, and the pack. The race then also began simply enough (surprisingly) with no major incidents, in the first corner at least. Some stuff happened behind me that brought out a caution but from my vantage point I didn't catch much. After the caution, Instink drove away from the pack. DJ involved in an earlier incident had fallen back leaving Viking to second. The first two pulled away from the field as Instink drove away. Viking attempted to not pit which almost lost him second place. I'm gonna hope someone else will comment on what happened further back cause I don't have a clue.

Finishing Order
  1. Instink*
  2. Viking*
  3. Recent
  4. Top
  5. DJ
  6. Mini
  7. Ford
  8. Bad
  9. Chrisscrossed
  10. Proof

  1. Ford, Top, and DJ all tussled for several laps following the early caution. Top eventually broke free of the three car pack and tried to catch up to second and third. Brining DJ along for the ride.

Around the halfway point they had caught up to Recent as DJ followed recent into the pits. DJ went haywire and pit in and slammed the wall which cost him valuable seconds. Although it set up his spirited charge from 8th up to 5th, during which he nipped at Top's heels in the closing laps.

MINI ran by himself for most of the race while keeping site of 5th and 6th. In the last five laps, a combination of Ford's car falling off and his car coming to life brought MINI to Ford's bumper for the last three laps.

Ford and MINI started a battle on the front straightaway at the beginning of lap 26 of 26 with MINI in the lead heading into turn one. Ford pulled along side coming out of turn 3 as they headed to the hair pin. Chriscrossed was up front with MINI yelling something about "move left" as faster traffic was coming through. As the three started into the hairpin, Proof mysteriously spun out and was sideways in the corner. MINI and Ford narrowly missed him while squeezing by Chris with Ford slipping back ahead of MINI as they headed to the back stretch.

The power of Austin-Healy took over as MINI breezed by heading to the chicane. Ford gave a little bumper rub heading into the final corner but thought better of blatantly spinning MINI out to secure 6th.
