Occupy Infineon Results

GASCAR returned Friday night, greeted by the beautiful vineyards of Northern California, but that is where the beauty ended. GASCAR returned to the form of the wild, snarling beast with a bit of drool hanging out of its mouth that is is, and has mostly been missing for the past 2 seasons. The events kicked off with a quick qualifying race. Top, Viking, Roadie, Ford separated themselves from the field setting the stage for the race to follow. Team Norse, consisting of Roadie and Viking took the first and second spots in followed by Ford, Top and a gaggle of cars.

At the start, Roadie jumped out to an early lead followed closely by Viking and Top. The next group consisted of Ford, Recent, Mini, and Trigga. They were trailed by Bad and Proof. The racing was mostly clean through the first dozen laps. Then Proof flipped over in the esses Bringing out the first caution. During this caution, most everyone pitted besides Viking, Roadie, Proof, and Recent. There was another long green flag run following this. Viking pulled away as everyone else ducked into the pits.

With about 10 laps to go a second caution came out as Trigga and Bad managed to spin out. Viking came out of the pits at this point in fourth place, lead by Ford, Top, and Roadie. Mini let Trigga know his frustration about constantly being followed by using many loud words at this point. After some intense racing, Roadie and Top continued there battled moving both of them back in the field. Meanwhile in the front, Viking managed to get around Ford and separated ever so slowly. Ford went on a few adventures during the last couple laps allowing Roadie to make a pass in the last corner and he assisted himself by bumping Ford into the wall coming to the line.

Finishing Order w/ Points
  1. Viking* - 11
  2. Roadie* - 9
  3. Ford* - 8
  4. Top* - 7
  5. Recent - 5

Maple Valley Recap

The fourth GASCAR race of the season also delivered the fourth different winner. Super Demon Cow proved victorious in GASCAR's return to Maple Valley. The GASCAR pit reporter was able to get an interview with Super after the traditional drink from the jug of syrup. Super's only comment on the race was "Fuck Roadie!" The race started innocently enough with Ford pulling away to a strong lead after having the dominant. On lap 7 Roadie dropped connection and brought out the first of many cautions and also the first rule to be discussed after the race. After retrieving Roadie, the race restarted then went back under caution after a collision between Top and Viking. Coming around for what should have been the green, everyone pitted besides Viking. After much confusion the race stayed yellow and Viking was very upset. This confusion led to the second rule that will need to be discussed. Taking advantage of the cautions Roadie was able to work his way around Ford for the lead where he would stay for a significant amount of time. Viking went to the pits as the race calmed and was stuck in last. The third caution of the race took place when Bad went flipping after hitting the kerbs at the top of the hill. This caution once again jumbled the field. The race pick up again with about 8 laps to go. Ford was continuing to chase Roadie around the track followed by Super and Top. With 5 laps to go, Roadie slid into the corner where Ford attempted to make a questionable pass. This questionable pass resulted in a wreck that eliminated the top 2 cars from contention. Super surprisingly found himself in the lead. Super was able to comfortable hold the lead on Top until the fifth and final caution came out for an incident involving Ford and Trigga. On the final restart with 2 laps to go, Super slowed to eliminate any opportunity for Top to jump the start. This lead to more arguing and confusion and the third rule that will be discussed. Super was able to hold the lead for the last two laps and claim the win followed by Top. In the mess of the last restart Roadie snuck up to third, followed by Viking, Mini, and Ford. Trigga and Bad brought up the rear.

Nurburgring Grand Prix Recap

Hello from Deutschland,
GASCAR kicked off its 6th season in style Friday night. Top started from the pole and spent most of his time there. The field gingerly rolled through the first corner attempting to avoid damaging incidents. After starting in 5th, Viking pulled along Ford who won the race to lead the first lap. Over the first six laps, Ford lead followed closely by Viking and then Top with never more than a second in between. Viking made numerous passes on Ford during those laps but was never able to be in front at the line. Eventually, Viking and Top swapped spots and Top's Saab was able to get around Ford and drive to a comfortable lead. The race continued rather uneventfully for a handful of laps as pit stops cycled through. The general running order at this time was Top, Ford, Viking, Roadie, Mini, Super, Proof, and Trigga. Around lap 18, everyone had been in the pits besides Super who lead the field. In a possible attempt to help his teammate, Super and Top got together, sending Top spinning and eliminating his gigantic lead on Ford. Ford got around Top at this time and held the lead for a few laps. On lap 23, the leaders were within seconds of the slow car of Trigga. The leader ran down the backstretch to find Trigga upside down in the Chicane bringing out the first caution of the race. The field now bunched up during the caution and was brought to the line by Ford. During the restart, Viking got a jump and moved around Top and outbroke Ford into the first corner. Coming around to the next corner Top took back the lead, then another caution came out. The field was lead by Top back to the finish line to start the race with 2 laps to go. Top's Saab got a decent jump and held a steady lead. Viking followed in second when Top went wide in the second corner giving the lead to Viking for a split second before Viking was shoved just enough to lose momentum and allow Top back out front. Ford took advantage and moved to Viking's right through the hairpin. Viking held the outside and maintained his position going into the next corner when much cursing ensued. In collision that was no one's fault, Ford and Viking washed up the track allowing Mini and Roadie into second and third, respectively. Roadie got around Mini on the backstretch. Top pulled to a comfortable lead during the madness. On the last lap, Viking barreled through the Chicane and got a run on Mini through the last corner. Racing to the line Mini's car held 3rd place by 30 ft until 100 yards from the line when Viking started to gain. Top crossed the line first, followed by Roadie. Mini beat Viking to the line by 3 feet for third, Ford followed in 5th, with Super in 6th, and Proof in 7th. Trigga in his comeback had an awful race coming back in last place. After the race, Ford said many bad words and threatening things to Viking.

Final Running Order:
1st - Top* - 10
2nd - Roadie - 7
3rd - Mini - 6
4th - Viking - 5
5th - Ford* - 5
6th - Super* - 4
7th - Proof - 2
8th - Trigga - 1

Another Progress Update

Teams have formed as followed:

Ford and Super
Top and Mini
Proof and Roadie
Viking and Trigga

NascarVinny and BadRiver have expressed interest in running. If going to miss a race be sure to contact one of them.

Qualifying Idea:

I came up with an idea to have qualifying for this race. Sometime during the week message me and I'll start a room. You will join and have 3 laps (two flying) your time will be recorded. Before the race we will have a pre-race one lap/warmup thing. We'll stop on the frontstretch after the lap and I'll call off the finishing order. The person with the slowest time will cross first and we'll work our way up to the pole. Back in the lobby, the 'Starting Order' will be set to reverse finishing order (something like that) and then we'll go. If you hate this idea say something and it can be eliminated. Another idea, is to start with fastest guys in the back and award a point to the pole winner.
Ideas/Suggestions?
